1. In thinking about how to dedicate specific times for staff collaboration and development. I am leaning towards a time built into the regular
school day. Grade level or content specific teams will be
able to meet throughout the year. There will be an accountability measure
required at the end of each meeting. The Building could cover the classes with
substitute during the meeting or better yet have a large scale activity lead by
parents, community volunteers and building staff where possible. There are
endless possibilities for the activities.
Split the students in to three or four large groups and rotate them
through a few different learning stations.
Design the activities around improving school culture and student
achievement. There can be a station
with content specific instruction activities or interventions, Art projects
focused on cultural competency and welcoming schools, Social skill/communication/conflict
resolution activities, and the list goes on forever. Bring in community members that are working
in these related fields. Make it a big
deal!!! Go big or Go home! This in
itself will demonstrate the commitment and importance of collaboration to improve
instruction to all stakeholders.
